Quick Start Tutorial: Creating an Album

During this step, you will import photos into a new album in the gallery. Although we only create one album, you can have as many albums as you like. Photos can be added to an album at any point. Photos can also be moved between albums or customized with captions that are shown in the published gallery. After completing this tutorial, you are encouraged to spend time experimenting with these additional capabilities.

1. Inside the Import Workspace, browse to a location on you computer which contains photos. All photos in the directory are automatically checked. Uncheck the photos which you do not want to add to an album.

2. Click the tool bar button labeled "Import."

3. Provide a name for new album. Note that you would also have the ability to add these photos to an existing album, if one existed. Click "Next" when you are finished.

4. Because you are creating a new album, B*Gallery asks that you assign this album to a category. A category is simply a grouping of albums, and you may give it any name you like. Note that you would also have the ability to add the new album to an existing category, if one existed.

5. Wait for B*Gallery to finish processing, and then click "Next". Note that this step can take some time, as B*Gallery has the intensive task of making resized copies of your images that are suitable for display on the World Wide Web. B*Gallery uses a very good (although slower) resizing algorithm to make sure your photos are as sharp and as clear as possible.

6. If your photos are from a modern digital camera, the start and end dates representing when your photos were taken may already be populated. If not, you may populate these fields manually. Additionally, provide a description for your album. Click "Finish" when you are done.
